Artist, Author and Illustrator
Georgia Graham

Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Georgia loved drawing as long as she can remember. Georgia has been hooked on chalk pastels since her mom gave her a set when she was in grade four.

She graduated from the Alberta College of Art in 1982 where she studied Visual Communication. She first used her art for children by drawing pictures for her Sunday School class while telling Bible stories. Since then she has slowly been developing her skills in the field of children's illustrating.

She married, had two kids and settled in the countryside of Central Alberta. Her rural lifestyle is reflected in her limited edition prints and children's books. She translates the countryside's pattern and beauty into chalk pastel renderings.

Georgia has a philosophy about children's books: "The illustrations in my children's book were much more time consuming than the writing. But the story must be a strong structure, like a skeleton, to hold the artwork. The illustrations are the fleshy, showy part." Georgia is invited to about sixty schools annually to present, demonstrate and conduct workshops across Alberta, speaking to approximately 20,000 children each year. BOX 5484 Lacombe, AB,T4L 1X2
